ELECTRIKAL: BENNY L (METALHEADZ)

23:00-03:00 £10 (SOLD OUT) / £12 / £14 (adv) // MOTD

Electrikal Sound System welcome back Benny L to Edinburgh!  Benny is up there with Serum and Voltage as one of this year’s most distinctive bassline sculptors. Obscenely on-point and sonically mature beyond his years, his basslines don’t bang but groan and moan under heavy production pressure. Rolling like old oak furniture being charged across floorboards by a herd of elephants, wheezing like the last puffs being squeezed out of a giant titanium robot, they’re not of this world and remind us of that iced-out, weirdo feeling only drum & bass can conjure.  Line Up: Main Room (Drum & Bass / Jungle) Benny L, Electrikal Sound, Master Of Bassline B2B Traf, Phinnegan. AGBEKO (LIVE) x SAMEDIA SHEBEEN

19:00-22:00 £7 (adv) / £10 (door)

11-piece Afrobeat-inspired rock-funk-psych juggernaut from Manchester, Agbeko play live with support from the mighty Samedia Shebeen DJs.  Agbeko were born out of admiration for the enduring music of 1970s West Africa and have spent the past three years honing a singular, contemporary sound built upon its teachings. An onslaught of horns, guitars, percussion and gutsy vocals, the eleven-strong outfit deliver powerful songs packed with riffs, groove and lyrical prowess to move gig-goers, festival throngs and afro-funk aficionados alike.  Named one of Band on the Wall’s ‘ones to watch in 2019’ and with a growing arsenal of tunes, and radioplay, Agbeko are fast gaining a reputation for inducing anthemic singalongs and mass dance-offs to stages throughout Europe and beyond. Fans of Fela Kuti & Africa 70, Hailu Mergia & The Walias Band, Antibalas, Budos Band, Ibibio Sound Machine and The Souljazz Orchestra, take note!  ‘Manchester’s finest – and most persuasive – advert for quixotic musical adventure’
Manchester Evening News. ‘Go and see them if you can for one of the best gigs of your life’
Now Then Magazine.
