After our launch in October 2018 with DJ Q, we are back with drum & bass heavyweight Friction alongside MC Linguistics to bring you what is set to be one of the best nights this January in Edinburgh. LINEUP: Friction + Linguistics + Support TBC. Multi award-winning Friction is one of the most revered and respected electronic music artists in the world today. Cutting his teeth in the drum & bass UK underground of the early 2000’s, Friction’s build from one of the most passionate, most technically skilled DJ’s into an all-round anthem producing artist has been relentless.  Today he co-owns the globally renowned Shogun Audio label, Elevate Records, Maraki Records (his latest venture with My Nu Leng) and hosted BBC Radio 1’s weekly drum & bass show for 6 years. All the while managing one of the most gruelling DJ schedules in the game week in week out, playing anywhere from Glastonbury to L.A, to Sydney, Tokyo and back to London. Deemed by Pete Tong as ‘one of the big dogs’, he entered the coveted D&B Hall of Fame at the 2011 D&B Arena Awards.

DISCO BISKIT: DAN SHAKE + AARON L (STAMP THE WAX)

23:00-03:00 £6 (sold out) / £8 / £10 / £12 (door)

For their first event at The Bongo Club, Disco Biskit are joined by acclaimed party starter Dan Shake and Aaron L, founder of influential dance music blog Stamp the Wax. Not one to miss.  Dan Shake is one of the UK’s best exports in recent years, by all accounts.  For the last few years, Shake has been stamping his mark on dance-floors globally, both with his distinctive funk touched productions, and his expertise working a crowd.  Based in London, he’s done what no other has done before him, landing his debut release back in 2014 on Moodymann’s prestigious label Mahogani Music, with no Detroit heritage.  As well as closing the main stage at Dimensions Festival and playing B2B shows with Jeremy Underground, Jamie 3:26 & Marcellus Pittman to name but a few, in 2017, 2018 saw a heated Boiler Room (Melbourne), a monthly residency on Rinse FM plus a fantastically received debut for Lumberjacks In Hell.

Friday 25 January

ELECTRIKAL: DJ GUV

23:00-03:00 £8 (sold out) / £10 / MOTD

DJ GUV – After his first sell out show in Scotland we thought it would be rude not to get him back!  A scene entirely of its own, the current world of jump up drum & bass is self-contained and at times entirely closed off to the rest of the scene. Dj Guv has surely been putting in the work, and last year this all came to fruition when he released Warning, a track that got picked up by dj’s across the board. Liquid and neuro dj’s saw themselves caning this tune and it turned out to be the ultimate singalong track of the year, rightly crowned Best Tune of the Year by Hazard, who passed on his award to Guv in an extraordinary, well deserved post-ceremony gesture. Lineup: DJ Guv, Electrikal Sound b2b Anikonik.  Upstairs (Electrikal crew takeover): Taz, Cleaverhype, Drowzee.
