For their third instalment, Artiisan are excited to welcome TSVI (Nervous Horizon) to the Bongo. A string of releases on Nervous Horizon have culminated in TSVI’s 2018 release, the enthralling Inner Worlds, an album which captures the imagination with a melting pot of Hard Drum, UK Bass, UK Funky and is described by Resident Advisor’s Andrew Ryce as an album of “emotive heights, addictive rhythms and sumptuous production”. A producer who holds the support of those such as Scratcha DVA  and Plastician, TSVI is bound to supply a breakneck live set consisting of whirling rhythms, textures and melodies. Fresh from a performance at Berlin’s Panorama Bar (Berghain), TSVI will be behind the decks at The Bongo Club for a blistering two-hour set – not to be missed!  “Club-wrecking drum tracks with a spiritual bent” RA  Resident AdvisorFacebookInstagramTwitter.

KITCHEN SYNC: BATU

23:00-03:00 £1 (sold out) / £5 sold out) / £7

‘We make the trip back up to Edinburgh after hosting a night to remember back in October, soundtracked by Banoffee Pies. It would be fair to say that Batu had a pretty big 2018. His glorious concoction of off-kilter, psychedelic beats at Dekmantel Selectors turned more than a few heads with many touting it as the best set of the entire year. The premise of having him play an extended 3 hour set in the cave that is the Bongo Club was simply too good to pass on. Pandemonium to ensue.  Support comes from Newcastles finest export, Thom Parris, who is set to cause something of ruckus. We advise punctuality.’

WEE DUB FESTIVAL (CLOSING SESSION): JAH SHAKA + MESSENGER SOUND SYSTEM

18.00-01.00 £10 (adv) / £13 (door)

The 2019 Wee Dub Fetival is co-headlined by a bona-fide godfather of the UK scene: Jah Shaka (with Adrian Sherwood at The Mash House on Friday).  Jah Shaka has been operating a South East London-based, roots reggae Jamaican sound system since the early 1970s. His name is an amalgamation of the Rastafarian term for God and that of the Zulu king Shaka ZuluWIKIPEDIA. FACEBOOK.  Shaka is regarded as the leading light in traditional soundsystem style dub music, whose dedication to the original roots style and spiritual marathon sets has gained him an almost mythic status globally – there is no more influential artist that Jah Shaka and his first appearance at Wee Dub is hotly anticipated.  Support from Bongo residents Messenger Sound System.
