DETROIT '67: MEMPHIS '68

20:00-21:30 £8

Scottish author, football pundit, broadcaster and iconoclast, Stuart Cosgrove, talks about his two recent books, Detroit ’67 and Memphis ’68.  The books explore two US cities in two crucial years.  Think Classic Motown icons like Smokey Robinson, the Temptations and Marvin Gaye (just a few crucial years before What’s Going On); Otis Redding dying in a plane crash; the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr; race riots across America: musical riches; social and political impoverishment – a time of great change, with an incredible soundtrack….  ‘Erudition, lightly worn, mixed with pub banter, lightly sworn’ Peter Ross (The Herald) // ‘Cosgrove weaves a compelling web of circumstance’ The Independent

** MrTraumatiks FIRST LIVE EVENT IN EDINBURGH ** SUPPORTED BY LOCAL DJS DIGITAL INTRUSION + Danox & Haxby . We are hosting a charity event to remember our friend George Wall who sadly passed in 2016 from SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome).
The charity we are supporting with this event is CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). At least 12 young people die every week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions and CRY have been working since 1995 to bring awareness to and reduce the risk of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD).  We hope with this event we can raise money for this amazing cause – to increase the accessibility of heart screening programmes for those who need them and increase awareness and information available for all young people across the UK so we can work together to prevent sudden deaths such as George’s.
