The Bongo Club is closed during the summer as the building has been taken over by Underbelly for the Fringe Festival, as happens every year.

Whilst we wait for the club to reopen we are looking back at some past nights held here, hoping to get old regulars reminiscing about some of their favourite events.

Legend of the game Andy C has played here at The Bongo Club on several occasions, most recently in 2022 but back in the day he found himself blessing the decks here with @xplicit_scotland in 2010

Founded in 2004, Xplicit has established itself as a cornerstone of the UK drum and bass scene, attracting top international DJs and producers while fostering local talent. Over the years, Xplicit has hosted an impressive roster of artists, including industry heavyweights like Goldie, DJ Hype, and Shy FX, as well as rising stars and local DJs. This dedication to quality and variety cemented Xplicit`s reputation as a premier destination for drum and bass enthusiasts.

We return on August 30th with Electrikal Sound System X Midnight Bass reopening party on the Friday and Chromatic on the Saturday

The Bongo Club is closed during the summer as the building has been taken over by Underbelly for the Fringe Festival, as happens every year.

Whilst we wait for the club to reopen we are looking back at some past nights held here, hoping to get old regulars reminiscing about some of their favourite events.

Back in 2014 shortly after we moved location to Cowgate, long time promoters @electrikalsoundsystem hosted a night with The Streets frontman @mikeskinnerltd

Electrikal Sound System, founded in 2009 in Edinburgh, Scotland, is a renowned collective known for their high-energy sound and lighting setups, specialising in bass-heavy music genres like drum and bass, dubstep, and jungle. They`ve built a reputation for delivering powerful live performances and have become a staple at festivals and events across the UK. Their state-of-the-art sound system and commitment to quality have made them a favourite among electronic music enthusiasts.

Mike Skinner is the mastermind behind The Streets. Known for his sharp lyrics and unique blend of garage and hip-hop, he gained fame with the critically acclaimed "Original Pirate Material" in 2002. His follow-up, "A Grand Don`t Come for Free" (2004), featured standout storytelling. After a break, he returned in the late 2010s, continuing to influence the UK music scene with his distinct voice and style.

@yogihaughton often called the godfather of Scottish electronic music, has played a pivotal role in the Scottish music scene since the 1980s. Haughton has been influential in venues like The Hoochie Coochie Club in Edinburgh and The Sub Club in Glasgow, where his eclectic sets span genres from soul to house. His contributions have solidified his status as a pioneer in Scotland`s dance music culture.
