“Break acquired a love for the breakbeats through jazz and funk records, learning the drums and piano at a young age before taking to the turntables at fourteen. A talented musician with a wide range of influences, Break looks to push the barriers in whatever he’s doing. Crisp breaks, heavy bass and strong melody are trademarks of his productions, making him a firm favourite with a variety of the scenes top DJs and Drum & Bass fans worldwide.
From his first release in 2003 on A-Side’s Eastside Records, he’s released music on many of the scene’s most influential labels, signing tracks to Commercial Suicide, Metalheadz, Ram, Soul:r, Subtitles, Shogun Audio and Exit Records before going on to set up his label Symmetry Recordings which began in 2006 and opened the door for complete control of his musical output, with five solo albums and a stack of singles and EPs.
His remix skills have been regularly commissioned for artists such as Sigma and Rita Ora. He has also been called on to undertake remixes of classic Jungle and Drum & Bass tracks such as Shy Fx’s ‘Bambaata’, Krome & Times’ ‘The Licence’, Dillinja’s ‘Hard Noize’, but by far his biggest remix to date has been for Goldie’s ‘Timeless’ remix project where he was given the honour of remixing seminal tune ‘Inner City Life’.
Alongside his most recent album ‘Digital World’, which has been smashing dance floors worldwide since its release, Break also held an XOYO residency in May of this year. With album and label events at top clubs and festivals this year, 2023 looks to be the biggest year, so far, one for Break and Symmetry, and it gives us immense pleasure to welcome Break to play at Jungle Magik.”
