One of the longest running club nights at Bongo, Mumbo Jumbo is a genuine stalwart of the programme, its experienced residents – Trendy Wendy & Steve Austin – setting the pace for over 14 years now with their own special formula.
Expect to hear a good-time mix, as Wendy and Steve mine underground hits and rare nuggets alongside upfront club shakers and future classics for a rich dance floor seam, exploring the many shades of disco and house, all accompanied by the energised Mairi B on percussion – a proper party soundtrack.
This month, they welcome award winning non-binary artist, Jordy Joans – a DJ with 9 years experience based in Edinburgh, playing an eclectic mix of music from the last 5 decades, with a passion for the underground. Their current residency is Liberation, at The Street. They have also been a guest DJ at Mash House, Hector’s House (Cabaret Voltaire), TASTE (Liquid Rooms), La Belle Angele & Sneaky Petes.

JORDY JOANS BIO
Jordy Joans is an award winning non binary, trans femme singer and DJ who grew up working class in Edinburgh and fell in love with music the first time they spotted Lady Miss Kier on MTV. Being the child of two parents with an eclectic taste in music from soul & disco, to 90s house and underground beats, Jordy started DJing in the queer nightlife one evening for a laugh, that quickly spanned into a career of over 9 years playing in some of Scotland’s best nightclubs.
Jordy’s aim in their music is to infuse personal stories that are relatable and empower voices to embrace their truth and overcome adversity.
They write their own lyrics, melodies and have a passion for DJ sets that take audiences on a journey of self-discovery and liberation.
They DJ every Monday at Glasgow’s infamous queer space, The Polo Lounge, flipping Mondays on their heads with Dynamo: an explosion of bangers, from disco, house, to pop and party classics.
They also DJ ‘Liberation’, a queer safe space party for Trans and Non Binary people at The Street one Saturday a month.
As a radio host and presenter, they present ‘Songs That Shape’ with EHFM on the second Thursday of the month, where they interview artists about the music that has inspired their careers. They will also be bringing a new empowering club night to Sneaky Petes called ‘Full Frontal’, with Edinburgh DJ Mairi B, that holds space for freedom of expression, self love and sexuality on the dancefloor.
