MORE INFO:

Co-headlining and following up ace releases on Inner Shift & Hobbes Music, JACKSONVILLE drops an unreleased mix of a killer cut from his FON EP (HM014), which came out just as lockdown 1.0 scrambled everyone’s circuits in 2020…  The 12″ vinyl EP is a three-track BOMBA of heavy bass, space, broken techno and classic electro vibes.

The new mix, Varadi (Hypno Mix), has been in demand following his recent Chubby podcast:

Jacksonville has carpet-bombed a number of HM events at the Bongo with his live sets. With a pedigree spanning some 20 years plus via releases for the likes of 2020 Vision, Hizou, Doppler, Thug, Plastic City, Leftroom, A.E.R, Shanti and Dan Curtin’s Metamorphic, he has a deep sound and knows exactly how to move the crowd.

LEONIDAS & HOBBES launch the new singles What Is In Space and Space Symphony tonight (taken from their debut album, forthcoming on HM).  The duo has been making music together for more than ten years now (and DJing for much longer), getting props across the board – particularly for their last two EPs.

Third EP Rags Of Time EP – featuring lead track Web Of Intrigue (below) – was voted Record Of The Year (2017) by international DJs on Bill Brewster’s DJ History podcasts.  The follow-up,  Aranath, pulled in daytime and evening play on BBC6 music (Mary Anne Hobbs, Lauren Laverne’s Breakfast Show w/Nemone & Gideon Coe), with high praise all round.

Among a slew of other DJ & critical plaudits, the pair has had enthusiastic features from Bandcamp, Electronic Sound, Ban Ban Ton Ton, DJ, Mixmag and Les Yeux Orange (above).  With a debut album in the works, expect ’nuff unreleased exclusives from these two.

Hobbes previously ran Edinburgh’s Trouble nights (Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide ‘Club Of The Year’, Runner Up), playing alongside the great and the good from across the soul/dance spectrum, including: Candi Staton, Marlena Shaw, Daddy G (Massive Attack), Fat Freddys Drop, Lone, Hudson Mohawke/LuckyMe, Eclair Fifi, Horse Meat Disco, Jazzanova, Linkwood, Mim Suleiman, Dego (4Hero), Crazy P and Bugz In The Attic (to name a few).

EXTERIOR released his vinyl debut (EP) on the label, to underground acclaim, in 2019 (check out the lead track below). His debut album is now in production at the plant (due April/May) and starting to generate some hype.

With his infectious energy, he is one of the most exciting electronic live acts label boss Hobbes has ever seen.  The live show also features sleeve designer/illustrator/VJ Panos Baras on live visuals.

GAMING‘s debut album came out on 2×12″ (plus an extremely limited edition bonus album on CD) via the label to broad underground acclaim, late ’19, picking up plaudits from Mixmaster Morris, Levon Vincent, Laurent Garnier, Avalon Emerson, Leo Mas, Red Rack’em, Cedric Woo, Nightwave, Domenic and more.

“falls somewhere between electro, IDM, and the kind of synth wave that Com Truise has made his own”  DJ MAG
“there’s a lo-fi sensibility…. with clear parallels to computer game music. But there’s also a relaxed, playful vibe that’s hard not to love” ELECTRONIC SOUND

He’s working on a follow-up and now has a more uptempo dancefloor sound, as witnessed at the Bongo in November and here:

THE THREE LIVES is a new duo from Glasgow/Dublin where a shared love for dub music is strong (whose debut EP, Mud & Flame, came out on Glasgow’s Full Dose in December, channelling pure dancefloor energy directly inspired by the 90s UK Steppers sound, with ambient moods and mystical vibrations.  They bring a dancefloor friendly Steppers set to the Bongo.  Irie.

MAASTRICHT RESEARCH is an alternate alias for producer Jonny Hunter (also one half of The Three Lives), producing ambient/drone style material.  The debut MR album, Idle Animation, is due out via Hobbes Music this spring/summer and already turning heads among those in the know.  Get down early to catch an electronic set from him under this alias.
