Welcome to the all new Bongo Club

Putting The Cult Into Culture

Pushing the boundaries of the Edinburgh scene since 1996, The Bongo Club is a nightclub, gig venue and all-round artistic hub with a street-level-headed attitude and an international reputation.

Truly independent, we’re owned by local arts charity Out Of The Blue, which has an established track record as a catalyst for creativity in Edinburgh. This allows us to put the sounds of the underground and imaginative aspirations before the mighty dollar, encouraging the community to get involved and use our space to do their own thing.

bignbashy4At night you’ll find killer residencies from some of Scotland’s most notorious club nights. From hip hop, funk, house and good-time party rockers new and old at Mumbo Jumbo and Four Corners to Big n Bashy’s bass heavy bangers, drilling drum’n’bass at Xplicit and sweet reggae rockin’ at Messenger Sound System. Soulsville brings swing, soul and doo-wop, and Substance champion terrific techno blizzards. There’s the bizarre art-party carnival of Confusion Is Sex and the weekly midweek nights I Love Hip Hop, Champion Sound and Hullabaloo.

bignbashy2With the added appeal of a unique laid-back vibe plus some of the finest lighting and sound the capital has to offer, these cult clubs have welcomed the likes of Camo & Krooked, Dillinja, DJ Marky, London Elektricity, Basement Jaxx, Roni Size, Xample, Gilles Peterson, Nasty FM, Norman Jay, Daddy G (Massive Attack), Flux Pavilion, Marley Marl, DJ Format, DJ Yoda, The Herbaliser and Aphex Twin to name but a few.

The great and the talented to have graced the Bongo stage further include Lau, Camille O’Sullivan, Kasabian, Vampire Weekend, Rachel Unthank, Declan O’Rourke, The Skatelites, Money Mark, Candi Staton, The Scissor Sisters, KT Tunstall and De La Soul.

pingpongAdd to the mix film, theatre, comedy, art events, the gameshow It’s Funtime, Rock & Roll Ping Pong, weekly classes in dance and fitness, and weekly drama workshops for young people run by Creative Electric.
