Today we look back at a crazy double headline night in 2016 with @ajtracey & @spookybizzle playing with @electrikalsoundsystem
AJ Tracey blew up in 2016 with the release of his breakout 2016 EP "Lil Tracey," he quickly became a household name with chart-topping hits like "Ladbroke Grove" and "Butterflies." Celebrated for his versatile sound that seamlessly blends grime, UK garage, and dancehall, AJ Tracey continues to redefine the UK music landscape.
Spooky, a pioneering grime producer and DJ from London, is renowned for his influential role in shaping the genre`s sound. Emerging in the early 2000s, he gained recognition with iconic tracks like "Spartan" and has been instrumental in pushing grime`s boundaries with his innovative beats and dynamic DJ sets. Spooky`s contributions have cemented his status as a key figure in the evolution of UK grime music.

@mumbojumbo_edinburgh have been a staple here at The Bongo Club since the old days back in Moray House. They held their nights monthly here every Saturday hosting a range of artists playing house, disco, soul and funk. With residents @trendywendy_no1 @steveaustinsadick @mairi_b_pots to name a few.
Before they changed hands they would host the younger crew upstairs with @ybz_collective playing garage, dubstep, techno and bass.
Mumbo Jumbo were a favourite to locals and regulars and still make an appearance monthly upstairs monthly Saturdays for @chromatic.edi

Legend of the game Andy C has played here at The Bongo Club on several occasions, most recently in 2022 but back in the day he found himself blessing the decks here with @xplicit_scotland in 2010

Back in 2014 shortly after we moved location to Cowgate, long time promoters @electrikalsoundsystem hosted a night with The Streets frontman @mikeskinnerltd
Electrikal Sound System, founded in 2009 in Edinburgh, Scotland, is a renowned collective known for their high-energy sound and lighting setups, specialising in bass-heavy music genres like drum and bass, dubstep, and jungle. They`ve built a reputation for delivering powerful live performances and have become a staple at festivals and events across the UK. Their state-of-the-art sound system and commitment to quality have made them a favourite among electronic music enthusiasts.
Mike Skinner is the mastermind behind The Streets. Known for his sharp lyrics and unique blend of garage and hip-hop, he gained fame with the critically acclaimed "Original Pirate Material" in 2002. His follow-up, "A Grand Don`t Come for Free" (2004), featured standout storytelling. After a break, he returned in the late 2010s, continuing to influence the UK music scene with his distinct voice and style.

Scotland’s dedicated weekly drum and bass night with special guest Anikonik.
Starting out in Dundee, Anikonik has paved ways for dnb in Scotland becoming a household name here in Edinburgh and all over the UK. From residencies with Electrikal Sound System and Kool FM, and playing at legendary places such as Boomtown fair and Printworks (RIP), we are honoured to have her back again as we are sure this will be another banger!
