Hosted by Jenny Lindsay & Cameron Foster. It’s the final Revue of the 2016/17 programme from Flint & Pitch, and we’re delighted to have teamed up with the wonderful 404 Ink to co-host their launch party for their new issue, The F Word. Having realised that four of the contributors to The F Word were to be on our stage that evening (Kirsty Logan, Jenny Lindsay, Cameron Foster and Nadine Aisha Jassat), it made sense to join forces with this unstoppable newcomer to the Scottish publishing scene. HOTLINE, run by girls, for everyone and anyone, where you can freely dance however the hell you want.  This month Hotline brings you an all girl DJ special, showcasing the talented Emily and Julia from Miss World, Anikonik (Electrikal Sound System) and the Ride gals.  Expect everything from disco to dancehall, house to hip hop, and of course lots of RNB.   The night aims to be inclusive to everyone and anyone, LGBTQ+ friendly.

WORKSHOP: BIG DRUMS

19.15-21.45 £10/weekly 2 hour session, £70 upfront for all 9 weeks

Weekly Big Drums sessions throughout May and June at the Bongo Club. Exploring the basics of hand-to-hand drumming, running rhythms, middle-eastern/North African rhythms, trance rhythms, odd time signatures, hand independence and general rhythmic principles. We’ll be playing a number of large custom built drums, in unison, with sticks, with several people playing each drum. Everything required will be provided (aside from ear protection – not essential but recommended).

Support free expression and have a great night out with the winners of the 2017 Saboteur Award for Best Regular Spoken Word Night. Beth, Ricky and Jacques are delighted to be joined by Edinburgh Makar CHRISTINE DE LUCA, co-founder of Open Book and The Belonging Project, MARJORIE LOTFI GILL, writer, reviewer, and Lunchtime Poetry maven, LAURA WADDELL, and consummate poet and performer COLIN MCGUIRE, as well as the atmospheric pop and dark ambient glo-fi of SUPER INUIT.  Come along – because we’ll know if you’re not there…

Est. 2010, this is Edinburgh’s institutional shot of Deep Rhythms and Rugged Grooves. Residents Cameron Mason and Calum Evans will be spinning the finest cuts of Deep Funk, Latin Rhythms and Rare Groove into the early hours from 11pm -3am. Strictly party vibes.

Sound system and crew, part of a music and art collective specialising in BASS music. Custom built and comprised of the finest audio components, it operates at a huge 26KW and provides as much deep bass, punchy mids and clear highs as any party could require.

MUMBO JUMBO: BONGO SUMMER CLOSING PARTY

Mumbo Jumbo is a melting pot of classic dance music: soul, funk, disco, hip hop, house and electronic beats are all dropped in the mix, courtesy of resident DJs Trendy Wendy and Steve Austin, while stalwart percussionist Bongo Dave energises the sound with his live conga workouts for a more vibrant experience on the ‘floor.  Mumbo Jumbo joins-the-dots between all the evergreen dance sounds,  lacing the lot with liberal helpings of cracking vocals, to ensure you get your groove on.  This is Saturday night party music at its best! GA-GA ZIELONE ZABKI + CZAPA + DJEMBE DRUMMERS (LIVE)

Polish legend of punk/ska music Ga-Ga Zielone Zabki has their 30th anniversary! They’re going to perform a number of gigs across Poland and UK – each will be different! They’re preparing a special set for Edinburgh – you can expect a lot of iconic songs from 80s and 90s! Amazing dose of really explosive punk rock made in Poland!  CZAPA have been peddling their Bad Brains/Skindred/Gentleman influenced ska/reggae around the UK since 2012 including a guest appearance at the London Scala. Vocalist Daniel Czapski is joined by guitarist Marecki, drummer Maciej Magic (Sons of Kal El/Red Cow Down), bassist Taff Williams & David on sax. Their first EP is due out in June.  To add more snazzy atmosphere to our event we invited an Edinburgh based group of djembe drummers!
