ILLICIT INK Underground: Toy Stories

Sunday 01 December
20:00 - 22:00 (doors open 19:30) £5 (£3)

Local writers create and tell original stories written to a given theme.

The event showcases the work of both new and established writers, and allows experimentation with unusual performances

Those devilish fiends at Illicit Ink are back, this time with some tall tales about toys, brought to you by some of Edinburgh’s finest spoken word performers.  Blending humour and unease, playthings will come to life and the wildest of our childhood imaginings will scuttle across the stage.

It’s the middle of the night and you wake up to the pitter-patter of tiny feet running up the corridor.  Tiny, plastic feet.  You should have locked up the toy box.  Thrown away the key. But it’s too late now.

Presided over by gender-bending Ken (Ariadne Cass-Maran) and Barbie (Tom Moore), the night will feature Lynsey May, Helen Jackson, Andrew Blair, Ever Dundas, Bronwen Winter Phoenix, Morag Edward and James Spence.

Bring along your favourite teddy bears, dolls and anything else soft and squishy that doesn’t make a noise.

Doors open at 7:30pm, with the event starting at 8pm
